Serengeti day 2

I woke up that morning feeling really cold.  Since I was just sleeping in a tent and during the night, it was only 10 degrees Celsius. I took a speedy shower and went to breakfast with my parents. While we were eating, the staff members were explaining few tips and rules about staying at this camp site: 

-       You should not leave any personal things outside the tent at night because hyenas would come and take them away.

-       You are not allowed to leave the tent by yourself at night. You have to call a staff by flashing your flashlight through your tent.

-       You have to keep your tent well closed at all time.

The only big animal we have seen close to the tents was a buffalo but otherwise at night we could hear some roars.

Even though the breakfast was so good, I was not that hungry. As I was leaving a crepe in my plate, Boniface said:” if you eat at least half of your crepe, we will see a cheetah today”… for sure I ate my whole crepe!

And here were back in the Jeep for the second day of Safari in the Serengeti… watch out for the cheetah!

Je me suis réveillé ce matin et j'avais vraiment froid. Pendant la nuit il ne faisait que de 10 degrés Celsius. J'ai pris une douche rapide et je suis allé déjeuner avec mes parents. Pendant que nous mangions, les membres du personnel expliquaient quelques règles à suivre:

-       Vous ne devriez pas laisser de choses personnelles en dehors de la tente pendant la nuit, car les hyènes vont les emporter.

-       Vous n'êtes pas autorisé à sortir de la tente par vous-même la nuit. Vous devez appeler un personnel en clignotant votre lampe de poche à travers votre tente.

-       Vous devez garder votre tente bien fermé en tout temps. 

Le seul gros animal que nous avons vu à proximité des tentes était un buffle, mais sinon, la nuit on entendait des hurlements d'animaux sauvages. 

Même si le petit déjeuner était très bon, je n'avais pas très faim. Boniface m'a dit: "si tu manges au moins la moitié de ta


crêpe, nous allons voir un guépard aujourd'hui" ... Alors j'ai mangée toute ma crêpe! 

Et nous voilà de retour dans notre Jeep pour la deuxième journée de Safari dans le Serengeti ... attention pour le guépard!

At one point, we saw 2 lioness digesting a buffalo.  A un point, on a vue 2 lionnes digérer un buffle

This was the lioness' appetizing meal.  Voilà le repas appétissant des lionnes

Close by, a Jackal was waiting patiently for the lioness' leftovers.  Tout près, un chakal attendait pour les restants des lionnes

Not far behind the jackal, the vultures were waiting in line.  Pas très loin derrière, les vautoures attendaient leurs tour

Wow! I think I found my CHEETAH!  Wow! Je pense que j'ai trouvé mon GUÉPARD!

...and he is walking right beside us!  ...et il marcher tout près de nous!

Guinea fowl.  Volaille guinée

Male impala.  Impala mâle

Few warthogs.  Quelques sangliers

2 hippos.  2 hippopotames

2 hyenas.  2 heyenes

This small antelope is called a dik-dik.  Ce petit antilope s'appelle un dik-dik

When we got back to the camp, we had a shower, ate supper and went to bed with lots of animals to dream about... (Especially my cheetah!)

Quand nous sommes rentrés au camp, nous avons pris une douche, mangé le souper et sommes aller au lit en rêvant à tous ces animaux ... (Surtout mom guépard!)
